Frequently asked questions.

  • Struts are identified by 4 simple steps:

    1. The extended length (center of fitting to center of fitting)

    2. Diameter of the body

    3. Diameter of the shaft

    4. Force in newtons (N)

As we are purely mobile, we take the headache away from trying to figure out what you have/what you need. We make up all our struts on site including the correct end fittings and pressure for your application.

  • The simple answer is, you can’t. For multiple reasons, struts on caravan roofs and camper trailer floors are typically longer than fitting to fitting meaning you cant just clip them back on and they have to be compressed. We are trained professionals with the right equipment to ensure your struts are fitted correctly and safely.

  • The best way around this is to contact us BEFORE you have built your project. Whether it be a toolbox/canopy or even custom made storage boxes, there are multiple factors that have to be considered. Instead of waiting and hoping, give us a call so we can guide you through what needs to be done saving you time and money. We can either design the fitment for you to fit, or come fit for you!

  • It all depends on the type of fitting! If your strut has a metal clip/band hugging the back of your end fitting, using a flat blade screwdriver, gently slide it under the clip and lever it away from the ball stud.

If the end fitting has a wire clip that wraps around the neck of the end fitting, lever the wire clip out from around the neck with a small screwdriver to release it, then slide the clip out.

  • SHAFT DOWN! In a perfect world we want the shaft facing down for entire operation. This allows the damping effect at the end of travel, it also means the seal is kept lubricated ensuring longevity of your strut. In the event of a warranty claim, the incorrect fitting will void your warranty.

  • There are multiple factors to keep in mind when judging how long your strut should last. These include size, orientation, cycles, temperature, geometry, vibration and the surrounding environment. Keeping these in mind, it’s near impossible to to estimate without testing within the application. We only sell quality struts that have undergone extensive testing, surpassing 40,000 cycles in a certified test lab environment.

  • All of our Gas Struts come with a two year/24 month warranty from date of invoice. The warranty is void if the following occurs:

    1. The identification label/sticker is removed

    2. Corrosive chemicals are used near/on the strut.

    3. Damage to the shaft of the strut from the use of paint, sanding or scratched

    4. Petroleum based products or lubricants are used on or around the strut.

    5. Misuse or incorrect fitment of the strut
